Who We Are

Preserving Memory and Dignity

In 2023, former Councillor Nicu Ion introduced a pivotal motion to Newcastle City Council, leading to the official recognition of the 2nd of August as a day of commemoration for the Roma victims of the Holocaust. This significant step underscores the city's commitment to honoring the memory of the Roma who suffered during this tragic chapter of history.

As part of this initiative, the Council has pledged to provide space at the Civic Centre for a dedicated memorial. This initiative is a community-driven effort to raise the necessary funds to make the Roma Holocaust Memorial a reality.

Your support can help transform this vision into a lasting tribute, ensuring that the stories of resilience and remembrance are preserved for generations to come. Together, we can honor the past and build a future rooted in understanding and inclusivity.
